Sometimes called the “caviar of the South,” pimento cheese is a culinary tradition that dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. Made with shredded cheese, diced pimento peppers, spices, and a bit of mayonnaise to hold them all together, pimento cheese is a delicious and versatile spread with a fervent fanbase – in fact, it’s long been one of our most requested items, especially from our Crew and customers in the South. However, when the time came to develop a regionally-specific pimento cheese for our Southern stores, we realized this treat was too good to restrict to one place. To put it one way, this spread deserved to be…well, spread! So now, we present to you, our nationally available Trader Joe’s Pimento Cheese Dip!

savory and Soft, and cheesy with a nice hint of peppery spice, this Pimento Cheese Dip is made in the traditional style, with thick shreds of extra sharp Cheddar and perfectly-sized chunks of roasted pimento peppers all mixed together with mayo and a mlange of spices includingsalt and pepper, and onion powder. Spreadable enough to glide over a slice of bread with gloriously cheesy ease, although it’s thick enough to hold its own when scooped with a cracker or Organic Corn Chip Dipper. In fact, one of its most common (and delicious) applications is the simple, yet effective, pimento cheese sandwich. Just spread a bit of Dip between two slices of bread and you’ve got aeasy and quick, and filling meal, just like that.

While pimento cheese commands a caviar-like devotion in the South, you won’t have to pay caviar prices for it at Trader Joe’s, no matter where your store is. We’re selling 10-ounce tubs of Trader Joe’s Pimento Cheese Dip for the quite hospitable price of $3.99, every day. You’ll find them in our refrigerated case.
